Legend Movie Review

Legend is riding on high expectations as Balakrishna, Boyapati Srinu's last film Simha was a blockbuster. Known for making high voltage mass masala movies, Boyapati Srinu has once again presented Balakrishna in one of his career best powerful roles in Legend.

What is it about?

Krishna (Balakrishna) lives far away from his family in Dubai. His grandmother wants him to stay away from violence and lead a peaceful life. Krishna falls in love with Sneha (Sonal Chauhan) and on his return to India he confronts with Jitender's (Jagapathi Babu) son and beats him to death. Jitender is the reason for the death of Krishna's parents. What follows next is an adrenaline pumping action drama with loads of powerful dialogues and heroism elevation scenes.

Performances:

                                                                                   

Balakrishna: It is cakewalk for Balakrishna all through the film. One cannot imagine any other actor in the role of Jayadev. Balakrishna roars like a Lion making this film a feast for his diehard fans. There are many scenes where fans would go berserk. Boyapati Srinu is the only director to present Balakrishna in such a powerful way after B. Gopal. He repeated the magic of Simha in few scenes, especially in the second half.

 

Jagapathi Babu: Jagapathi Babu took up the challenge of playing the antagonist in a film where Balakrishna owns the show. He came out in flying colors with one of his career best performances. He looked menacing as the villain with that white beard and superbly designed costumes. His rugged voice added extra spice to the character. Jagapathi Babu is one of the main assets of this film without an iota of doubt. Balakrishna's heroism has been elevated to another level due to Jagapathi's wonderful portrayal of the villain character.

 

Radhika Apte is apt and Sonal Chauhan sizzles in her brief role. Brahmanandam irritates a bit. Jayaprakash Reddy, Brahmaji, LB Sri Ram and others have shined in the roles assigned to them.

Technicalities:                                                                                                                                  

Music: Devi Sri Prasad is not used to give music to such high voltage mass films. His background score for this film is in sync with the proceedings and took it to next level. On the downside Songs are not up to DSP standards barring Legend title song.

Direction: Boyapati Srinu is a master in working the emotions that connects instantly with the masses. He studied and understood the image of Balakrishna better than any of the current directors. He has done a wonderful job in the second half. Should have taken care on the first half which was pale and dull compared to high octane second half.

           

Camera work is good and so is the art department's output. Editing is good in second half and average in first hour. Producers have spent lavishly on the film.

Analysis:

            

Legend is a complete commercial package with all the ingredients neatly packed in. The film starts off with a bang with Jagapathi Babu setting right expectations on the film. The graph dips a bit after Balakrishna's character was introduced. Director tried to add comedy flavor to the film by giving maximum footage to Brahmanandam for a while.

           

They have made desperate attempt to make it work, but the theme of this film doesn't accommodate comedy. Interval gives the real punch and from there on there is no stopping Legend. The film goes from strength to strength with each scene. Balakrishna just carried the film on his able shoulders without letting the graph go down.

            

Balakrishna fans will watch this film numerous times as it is undoubtedly the best from Nata Simha post 'Simha'. Boyapati Srinu lived up to the expectations and delivered a full on masala film that will work wonders at the box office especially in mass dominated areas. There is good sentimental touch to the film which will appeal to classes and families. Excessive violence is the weak point of this film and it may restrict the reach. Saying that all the biggest hits from Balakrishna had excessive violence and therefore it shouldn't be a big problem for Legend.

Pawan Declares His Single Point Agenda

'Kicking out corruption, fighting against bad policies and exploitation is agenda of Jana Sena. There is nothing much, expect this single point agenda', said Pawan Kalyan, while president at 'Youth Of Nation' meet held in Vizag.

Pawan declared that he is dedicating his 'ISM' book for the nation and confirmed that the book itself is the ideology of the party. After confirming again that he is not here for making money and posts, the Jana Sena presidents says that he hasn't floated party for 2014 elections but to fight corruption till his last breathe. 'Congress haven't upset just Telugu people with their bifurcation decision, but destroyed the whole of India's integrity with their cruel intentions', he claimed.

Mahesh Babu Quits Mani Ratnam Movie!!

An interesting and yet shocking development is being heard about ace Indian film maker Mani Ratnam's movie that is to feature both Superstar Mahesh and romantic hero Nagarjuna in the leads. Also big names like Aishwarya Rai, Shruti Haasan and Asin are heard regarding this project. Here is a quick update about this colourful movie.
 
For the second time in his career, Mahesh is dropping out from being part of Mani Ratnam's movie, say sources. Though Nagarjuna is working with Mani in the projects, it appears like only Mahesh Babu is out of it. Already the makers are searching for a suitable hero to be brought into Mahesh's shoes. Being a film of top stars and by acclaimed director, why did Mahesh opt out of it? as per reports, Mahesh is unable to provide the huge chunk of dates demanded by Mani Ratnam. After wrapping up of Aagadu, Mahesh needs to work on UTV-Koratala Siva project, and then he got a film with Puri Jagan in the pipeline. If Mahesh allots dates for Mani Ratnam's movie, then he will not be able to work on both UTV project and Puri's own production.
 
Citing his inability to adjusts dates, it is heard that Mahesh bid adieu to Mani Ratnam's movie. Earlier too, our superstar is supposed to drop in a period flick directed by Mani, but he opted out of it due to creative issues. But Mani hasn't took off that project with any other hero

Can Nagarjuna win a election?

Like earlier mass heroes like Krishna, Krishnam Raju and Chiranjeevi, can Nagarjuna can win an election and prove that he is a mass hero. 

Even though, his mass-oriented movies like 'Mass' and 'Don' fared well at the box office, but many doubt, whether he has joined the mass heroes club. Industry sources claim that he is more closer to female and family audience and these fans, may not turn up at the polling booths to vote for their actor. Interestingly, even his late father ANR, who attained legendary status but never craved for political career since he wasn't sure about winning elections. 

Although, Akkineni fan following is quite considerable in AP, but even Nag may not contest an election, not sure about turning victorious. Or he is just a shrewd businessman who wants to be the good books of successful poltician and just expand his business from studios to hotels, to resorts and theatres?

Election Commission lauds Legend

It seems like this is a day of twists and surprises, when it comes to Nandamuri Balakrishna's latest movie 'Legend'. As Censor Board has given a jolt to the makers by asking them to obtain a No Objection Certificate from Election Commission, here is what 'Legend' achieved.
 
Calling the movie as quite "explosive" for its political punches that are indirectly aimed at ruling governments, Censor Board asked the makers to mute many dialogues and cut few scenes. However, the Board has given another option to avoid the cuts, saying that 'Legend' makers should obtain an NOC (No-obejection certificate) from Election Commission of India to allow the movie to release. As General Elections are just a month ahead and Election Code is in force, Censor Board might have felt that release of Legend with those incorporated political dialogues will lead to trouble and protests of people from political parties.
 
But after watching the film, Election Commission appreciated the movie for its take on present day politics. Praising the director for his application of honesty and integrity to address key issues of the society, Election Commission has given clearance to the release of movie, a source revealed. As EC has given NOC now, it seems like Censor Board will not have a problem to issue a U/A certificate for the movie.
 
So, the game is on folks. Balakrishna's Legend will be hitting the screens across the globe on March 28 to enthral Nandamuri fans. Directed by Boyapati Sreenu, the movie features senior hero Jagapathi Babu in a special villain role, while Radhika Apte and Sonal Chauhan are playing female leads. Exactly at 10.34 am, Legend's first show will be screened in India on March 28, 2014.

Pawan is king of Nizam

The rumorus about Pawan Kalyan vying for the safe seat (Malkajgiri) along with Jayaprakash Narayana of Lok Satta, is amusing as well as shocking. 

Since Power star is only Telugu star to have a huge fan following Nizam (10 districts of Telangana) since his last film 'Atharintiki...' grossed more than 25 crores and he left his rivals like Mahesh Babu 21 crores (Dhookudu) Ram Charan 22 crores (Magadheera) and Prabhas 19 crores (Mirchi) far behind.

So he can actually contest in Warangal, Nizamabad, Nalgonda or Khammam and even twin cities Secunderabad and still win thumping majority riding on his super stardom. But he wants to play it safe and doesn't want to risk his political debut. Or is he doubtful about his huge following may not convert into votes and fans would be split and would vote for regular parties like Congress or TRS.

Fresh Controversy hits Mohan Babu's Rowdy

Quite unexpected this is, but a political JAC from Norther Andhra is now breathing fire on Mohan Babu's forthcoming film 'Rowdy'. Accusing that the title of the flick, and the content of the movie are spoilers of society, these JAC leaders announced their plans of halting the movie's release.
 
"Crime rate laced with factionist attitude and criminal intent is going up in society only due to influence of movies, especially made by director Ram Gopal Varma," says a political JAC. "He showed Mohan Babu as a factionist and the flick might trigger unwanted feuds in state at the time of elections," the JAC leaders added. Protesting against Ramu's violent flicks and his most recent 'Rowdy', Northern Andhra political JAC warned to stall the release of the movie. They stated that if Censor Board fails to act on the movie then they are going to stage a protest in front of theatres to hold the screening of this flick.
 
Blaming on movies for everything that happens on silver screen is something analysts from either side will not accept. If there is something really objectionable, then there are censor boards, courts and human rights commission, but these JACs should not create a ruckus is what many are saying. Let us see how Mohan Babu and Ramu respond to the controversy.

Bad news for Bunny's fans

It's bad news for Bunny and his fans as director Rajamouli teaming up with him turn out to be false. Director S.S Rajamouli, who never minces his words, himself rubbished these as baseless. Jakkanna made it clear that he has no other plans until he wrap up his present commitment Baahubali. Buzz had it that Rajamouli and Bunny held meetings for their collaboration.

Quickly reacting to them, Rajamouli clarified through his Twitter post, "Though I (would) love to work with Bunny (Allu Arjun), there hasn't been any plan or talks yet. All you see are mere speculations. (I) won't be planning anything till 'Baahubali' is over."

Hope this combo of Stylish Star and Stylish Director would team up sooner or later.

'Mega Fans' War gets ugly

Pawan Kalyan's launch of new political outfit Jana Sena has resulted in dividing the fans of mega heroes into two groups. Pro Chiranjeevi and Pro Pawan groups are fighting against each other everywhere. This is getting nasty and uncontrollable as fans from both the groups are abusing the same heroes whom they have worshipped until few days ago.

Fans that belong to same fans associations have also split now. They are attacking each other verbally and physically in some cases, say the buzz. Pawan Kalyan is not entertaining Chiranjeevi and Charan fan clubs and Chiranjeevi has allegedly sent a message to all his 'exclusive' fans to not to support Pawan in anyway.

With the heroes themselves treating fans as separate groups, there is no one to control them at the moment. It is high time Megastar and Powerstar to send a clear message to fans to avoid fighting. This ugly war may affect upcoming movies from mega family heroes. Mega heroes were ruling the roost all these days as fans were united. But this divide due to politics might hamper the collections of their future films too.

Good News: Jr NTR To Become Father

It seems like Tollywood's top stars are welcoming their cute heirs almost at the same time. After news about Bunny getting ready to become a doting father very soon, here comes a titbit of good news about Jr NTR too.

Highly placed sources confirmed that Jr NTR's wife Lakshmi Pranathi is pregnant and expecting first child. The delivery is expected in a couple of months. Nandamuri camp is going all out to welcome the fourth generation kid into their family. Ever since Lakshmi Pranathi was caught with her baby bump during some recent outings with young tiger, speculations are rife that the couple are expecting soon.

'Both NTR and Lakshmi are shopping heavily for their new family member. At regular times, Jr is taking breaks from shoots to attend his loving wife', a source said. Married on May 5th, 2011, Jr NTR will be getting ready to play father role in real life in no time, but there is no official word about the happening from Nandamuri family yet.

'I've been an absolute fool' confesses Ileana

Not many heroines who stepped in Bollywood via South cinema are making buzz in Hindi Cinema. Ileana D'cruz is one of the very few who caught the attention of Bollywood public as well as the media. She is going to scorch the screens in her hottest avatars in 'Main Tera Hero' a remake of Telugu hit Kandireega.
 
Ileana is super confident about this film to bring her new image in Bollywood, where she is still carrying that Bengali Barfi image. She is also willing to make a comeback in Telugu films if she gets the right opportunity. Ileana is currently dating a foreigner Andrew. She is not willing to talk about him or their relationship. But Ileana says she had bitter experiences in love in the past.
 
"Back then I tried to impress my man by being giggly and weak. I was a strong minded person but I never let that streak out as I felt men don't like strong women. I was wrong. Real men admire strength in women. I have been an absolute fool in love. I've done many silly things. I won't repeat that. Don't lose your individuality. Don't change yourself for anyone," said Ileana in an interview with Filmfare.

Bhadram Movie Review

Bhadram is the Telugu dubbed version of successful Tamil thriller Thegidi. This small film made so much buzz in Tamil cinema. Can it repeat the same feat here?

What is it about?

Venu (Ashok Selvan) gets a job in detective agency. His job is to collect details about the 'subjects' and send a report to the company. He is assigned the job of collecting details about Madhu (Janani Iyer). He falls in love with her in the process. One day Venu comes to know that all the people that he followed are getting killed. Next in the list is Madhu. Venu has to solve this mystery to save her.

Performances:
                                                                                       
Ashok Selvan is alright in the lead role. This character needs to exhibit many emotions, but Ashok has only two or three stock expressions. Janani Iyer's performance is fine. She suits the role of typical girl next door. Kaali who played hero's friend gives some relief here and there. Jaya Prakash and others chip in with adequate performances.
Technicalities:                                                                                                                                  
            
Director P. Ramesh chose an interesting subject for this film. It takes time to get to the real plot. There are some interesting twists and turns in the film to keep you engaged. However Bhadram leaves so much space for betterment. We expect much better execution especially in the second half.
            
Songs are not needed for this type of film. There are too many songs in the first half and they hardly impress. Background music is good in the murder scenes. Cinematography is good. Editing is not up to the mark.

Analysis:
            
Bhadram has some engaging moments here and there. The film opens on a leisure note and moves at a snail pace until the first murder is revealed. From then on it is a rollercoaster ride until interval. These scenes raise the bar for the second half, but the director failed to reach it. Despite few tension filled scenes in the second half, Bhadram gives a feeling that something is missing in the process.
            
Climax scenes are not handled impressively. The reason for murders is not convincing. Director had a very good plot but failed in executing it. Telugu audience have seen better thrillers and mystery films. Bhadram is just okay thriller with very few impressive moments. This film is made by the makers of Pizza and Villa. Bhadram is pretty average compared to those films.
            
Bhadram has enough to kill time. It is neither a bad nor a great film. You may watch it in theaters or wait for the edition. Keep your expectations low if you are planning to watch it.  

Verdict: Bhadram is an Average Suspense Thriller.

Rowdy's music album, composed by Sai Karthik, comprises 5 songs- "Ammorini Minchina Ayyavu Nuvve...Ayyorini polchina Annavu Neeve...Maa Gudisello Deepam Nuvve...Maa Adugullo Jadavu Nuvve", "Oo Bullemma......Jara Kanchi Pathu Cheera Katti Thayarundamma Nee Kaallu Thokkostha", "Anna...Anna...Thappo Oppo Lekka Cheyyadu" (Theme Song), "Nee Meeda Othu..Na Prema Meeda Othu..Nakosam Ninnu kanna Ee Seema Meeda Othu", "Adi Ra...Seema Lekka"

Music director Sai Karthik, who rendered music for Krishna Vamsi-Nani's Paisa, has scored more brownie points with Rowdy album. All the numbers of the film are equally racy and soothing. Especially the song "Oo Bullemma..." is one of the highlight songs of this album and expected to turn out as chartbuster. The stills of the song are teasing, kicking anticipation to watch out the song. Since Jayasudha shaking her legs after two decades and that too grooving with Mohan Babu, is grabbing many eyeballs. Melodious tune "Nee Meeda Othu..." is music to ears whereas "Ammorini Minchina Ayyavu Nuvve..." is montage song which lived up to film's hype. Lyrics by Kasarla Shyam, for all the five songs, are catchy and sinking with the tunes. Despite having young music composer Sai Karthik on board, the album has all elements to top the charts. Ram Gopal Varma's mark is conspicuous in the songs.

Chiru's sensational comments on Pawan!

Actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi has made sensational comments on his own brother Pawan Kalyan who recently floated Jana Sena Party. Amid reports that Pawan Kalyan is going to join Narendra Modi brigade and support BJP, Congress Campagin Committee Chiru has strongly reacted. He declared his brother Pawan Kalyan as his political opponent. "As a political-rival and president of opponent party, surely he (Pawan) is my antagonist. We will fight with him like we will do with all other opponents in Andhra Pradesh," Chiru concluded, challenging that his younger brother is another opponent for him. However, Chiru added that his blessings will always be with Pawan.

"Can you control your own son? If you have three sons each one will tread in their own path to realize their dreams. I always give freedom to Pawan's thoughts, vision and ideologies. He is free to do what he wants to for the sake of serving society, I will not monitor him," said Chiru while talking about Pawan Kalyan and his Jana Sena.

Although Chiru trying to 'act' as a "democrat", the big question is why did Chiru send Naga Babu to pass a video message to fans a day before Pawan's speech. Why did Chiru try his best to stop Pawan? Now that Pawan has floate his outfit snubbing Chiru, Chiru is making moves to project himself as democrat.

NTR's direct fight with Balakrishna

Nandamuri Taraka Ratna has been asking media to address him as NTR in short. Despite being in film industry for more than a decade NTR is yet to get the taste of success. However he is not giving up. He is doing so many films at the moment. One of his new films, Eduruleni Alexander is all set to release in few days.
 
Eduruleni Alexander was actually planned to release in this week, but the makers decided to release on March 29th. This means NTR is going to take on Balakrishna's Legend that is releasing a day ahead of it. Fans make hue and cry if the same happens for Balakrishna and Jr. NTR films. But Taraka Ratna doesn't have that problem.
 
Taraka Ratna and his team are very much aware of Legend's hype and expectations on it. But still they are going to lock horns with the Legend. Is NTR adopting to 'Hair and Hill' (Famous adage in Telugu) theory or is he really playing the tough guy? Whatever the reason be, this Alexander is not Eduruleni Alexander anymore, he has to 'face' the heat of the Legend Balakrishna.

Unhappy with the working style of one-film director Santhosh Srinivas, superstar NTR has reportedly began to call the shots for his upcoming film "Rabassa". Recently we have seen Powerstar Pawan Kalyan venturing into active politics once again by kick starting his 'Jana Sena'and for that he initiated a huge meeting with fans and media where he breathed fire heavily on Congress and TRS for their divisive politics. It seems like another star Telugu actor now wants to hit Telugu people with similar kind of stunning whistle-blowing political press meet.
 
'From some time I'm controlling myself and my self-consciousness to stay calm and cool. But will let out all my true inner feelings soon', said Mohan Babu, the other day while interacting with media at Tirumala. Dialogue King minced no words to breathe fire on some corrupted leaders. Powerstar Pawan Kalyan has plunged deep into politics and he is getting ready to address media for the second time next week. In the wake of this development, we wonder what happens to most hyped 'Gabbar Singh 2' but here is one serious development.

High power second edition of blockbuster 'Gabbar Singh' is what fans are waiting for from a time, before this 'Jana Sena' thing has set them on a new plane altogether. Pawan too uttered that he will be contemplating to quit movies for the sake of his political war against Congress party. Jr NTR's Camp Studying Pawan's Moves

Whether someone clearly acknowledges it or not, cracks are always visible between Jr NTR and Nandamuri family. There are is a little vacuum developed between Balayya-Chandrababu and the young hero. Adding fuel to this gap, it is heard that Telugudesam Party's new move is embarrassing Junior's camp further.
 
Today, the big new broke out with Pawan Kalyan seeking the appointment of BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. Already there are enough indications by Pawan that he will join with any party other than Congress. In the wake of this meeting, analysts are busy quipping that if Jana Sena backs BJP, then no doubt it is an indirect support to Telugudesam too. In that case, what more star power is needed for the cycle party as Pawan on one side and Balayya on another side will do the much needed magic. The same point seems to be threatening Junior's camp now, as they feel that Pawan's entry will make Chandrababu never look towards young tiger for election campaigning, at least for now.
 
More than anyone, Jr NTR camp is now studying Pawan's moves carefully such that they could take quick decision about what their hero should do. Though Tarak has given clarity that he will continue with the party established by his grandfather, already his close aides are in YSR Congress and we can't rule out any possibility that is technically possible.

Why Kavitha silent on Pawan?

Pawan Kalyan's Friday speech is the hard-hitting speech ever made by a politician in recent times and is bolt out of the blue to many politicians cutting across the boarders. Especially, TRS cadre is still said to be under this powerful speech as it remain tight-lipped.

In a blistering attack on Telangana Jagruti president Kavitha, star actor questioned her over the funds inflow to her outfit. Pawan asked Kavitha to reveal the financial accounts of Telangana Jagruthi to people of Telangana. Many have expected a thunderous response from TRS on this. Contrary to it, taking everyone by surprise, TRS is maintaining an eerie of silence over Pawan's strong allegations.

TRS MLA and Kavitha's brother K. Taraka Rama Rao reluctantly responded and said that they decided to not to respond on Pawan's statements. Whereas Kavitha is no where in the whole scene. This is raising many eyebrows as KTR, KCR are usually hyper-reactive. We hear that TRS want to downplay the issue to subdue the alleged "fund irregularities" in Telangana Jagruthi. Jr NTR Cancelled Multi-Starrer Flick?

Meanwhile, Young Tiger NTR is not taking decisions in a hurry though he needs to finalize what is his next after wrapping up 'Rabhasa'. While he is expected to be part of a multi-starrer, latest update is that he is not happy with the final script.

Busy with Santosh Srinivas' movie 'Rabhasa', Junior is considering various options like director Sukumar's action based love story and Trivikram's masala entertainer. In the middle, his previous director Vamsi Paidipally has come up with a multi-starrer project where King Nagarjuna is heard getting on board. But after listening to the final version, it is heard that NTR is not satisfied with the output and instantly he decided to scrap the project. He asked Vamsi to come up with another script rather this multi-starrer.

On the other hand, Jr NTR is looking forward to finalize one among Sukumar, Trivikram and Puri Jagan. For now, all the projects are just in discussing stage, and he wants Rabhasa to get released and elections to get over before taking up any new challenges, an insider said.

Ram Charan hits jackpot

Ram Charan has been facing problems with hot shot directors at the moment. He is working with Krishna Vamsi, who is completely out of form and has signed up a movie with Boyapati Srinu, although he is not ready to take up a mass movie immediately. With all the top directors busy with other commitments, Ram Charan is settling with what he gets.
 
Here is good news for Ram Charan as star filmmaker Murugadoss has one script ready for him. Murugadoss hasn't yet narrated the script to Ram Charan, but he said that he has one script that will suit him. Allu Aravind has been planning to make a film in this combination. If Charan likes Murugadoss' script, then it will go onto floors very soon.
 
Murugadoss has another storyline that will suit Mahesh Babu. He is waiting for the right time to narrate it to Mahesh. If Mahesh likes it Murugadoss wants it to make it in Telugu and Tamil. Currently Murugadoss is busy with Akshay Kumar-starrer Holiday (Tupaki remake) promotions. He has another film lined up with Tamil superstar Vijay.
