Gannavaram-Nuziveedu to be New Capital for Seemandhra

With the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh is imminent as it is just matter of days, and June 2 being the Formation Day of both Seemandhra (residuary state of AP) and Telangana, the big question on everyone's lips is what is the new capital for Seemandhra. It is common fact that many cities and towns like Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur, Prakasam, Kurnool and Tirupathi are in fray. The Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) has done its own research and submitted a detailed report to sub-committee on the new capital for Seemandhra. DTCP officials have studied the locations of Visakhapatnam, Kurnool, Donakonda in Prakasam district, Hanuman Junction in Krishna district and Nagarjuna Sagar in Guntur district.

According to its preliminary report, Vizag, Kurnool and Donakonda in Praksam could be ruled out as the officials found it "difficult" to setup Capital there. Going by report, Vizag's geographical disadvantages acting as stumbling block for it whereas the officials found that Kurnool will face inundation problem and Donakonda is too remote place. DTCP officials have predicted better chances for both Hanuman Junction and Nagarjuna Sagar in Guntur district. While Hanuman Junction is located on Gannavaram-Nuziveedu stretch and equi distant from Vijayawada and Eluru, Nagarjuna Sagar is likely to have rich water resources.

TDP top brass confirmed to Gulte.com that Gannavaram-Nuziveedu stretch would be the new capital. Efforts are being done to set up new capital city in between Gannavaram-Nuziveedu stretch, say top sources. Also, Gannavaram airport is likely to be renovated on par with global standards soon. Meanwhile buzz is that PM designate Narendra Modi, who is going to swear-in on May 26, is likely to make a big statement over Seemandhra very soon after taking the charge as PM. Modi is expected to announce a big financial package for Seemandhra. Chandra Babu-Modi's bonding is said to be come in handy for Seemandhra people.

On flip side, huge efforts are in place to simultaneously develop Guntur, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Kurnool, Prakasam and Nellore into new destinations for MNCs, education hubs (IIT, IIM), Sea ports, financial centres, Central research institutes respectively. TDP-BJP combine seems to be keen to keep its word and totally relying on development plank. Looks like, good days are ahead for Seemandhra.
