Babu Writes Letter to Modi, T-Govt Opposes

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking him to give special powers to governor of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Babu has asked Modi to transfer of police powers in Hyderabad to Governor ESL Narsimhan for better safety and security of people of Hyderabad.

In his letter, Chandra Babu asked Central government to take necessary steps to safeguard people living in Hyderabad and their assets. Babu requested PM to handover all special powers of safety and security to Governor in order to repose faith in people residing in Hyderabad, which is a joint capital of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Babu wrote, "The safety, security of people in joint-capital Hyderabad should be under the purview of Governor. The police in twin cities should function under Governor's monitoring. This is clearly mentioned in the AP Reorganization Bill 2013. All transfers and postings of Police department in Hyderabad, Cyberabad should also be under Governor's control. Both governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana should have equal rights in postings, transfers of officials and allotment of buildings and their functioning. All these were clearly mentioned in the Telangana Bill."

Babu has asked Centre to take special care to safeguard lives of people and their assets in Hyderabad. Naturally, this letter drew ire of Telangana government and it is vehemently opposing transfer of powers to governor. T-governement made it clear that it would fight tooth and nail with Centre on the issue.
